Kynto is a live world. You walk around as an avatar and talk to other people in rooms, in direct messages and over voice and video. This page shows you how to report someone, how to block them, how to quiet things down and what happens next.
Kynto is for adults
You must be 18 or older to use Kynto. When you sign up you confirm that you are 18 or older and agree to the terms: on the signup card, or on the step that finishes a signup with Google, Apple, Twitch, Discord or Kick. Kynto does not finish a signup without it. Entering as a guest asks you the same question.
If you think someone in Kynto is under 18, report them and say why.
Report a person
- Tap or click their avatar and choose Profile. You can also tap their picture beside a chat message.
- Choose Report.
- Say what happened and send it.
Your report goes to Kynto's moderation queue with what you wrote and the room you were in. The person you reported is not told.
A moderator reads every report within 24 hours. They can resolve it, dismiss it or ban the account.
Report a room, an image or a video
- A room. While you are in it, open the More menu at the top right and choose Report room.
- An image or a video in chat. Open the message's menu and choose Report image or Report video.
Say what is wrong and send it. A room report goes to the moderation queue with the room and its owner, and an image or video report with the message and the person who posted it. Neither of them is told.
Block a person
Open their profile and choose Block. They are not told.
After you block someone you stop seeing their messages in rooms. Their direct messages, group invites, friend requests, trades and emote requests do not reach you. Their posts leave your timeline, and you do not hear their messages read aloud.
Blocking does not hide their avatar or stop their camera, voice or screen share. Mute their stream on your side or leave the room, and report them.
To unblock someone, open their profile again and choose Unblock.
Mute what you do not want to hear
- A conversation. Tap the bell at the top of a direct message or a group. You get no sounds, push notifications or emails from it.
- Someone's voice or stream. Use Mute on their tile. This changes what you hear and see. It changes nothing for anyone else.
- Messages read aloud. Chat settings has Mute Read Aloud.
- Streams from strangers. Settings has Friends-only Streams. With it on, you only receive streams from your friends.
What room owners and moderators can do
Every room has an owner. The owner can moderate the room and can give moderation rights to other people, for a set time or for good.
A moderator can mute someone's chat, freeze them in place, silence their messages read aloud, end their camera, voice or screen share, delete a message, kick them out of the room or ban them from it. A mute, a freeze and a ban stay in place when the person leaves and comes back.
Kynto's operators can ban an account from all of Kynto.
Automatic checks
Kynto runs room chat through an automatic check before anyone else sees it. A message it flags is held. Only the person who wrote it is told. If the check is unavailable, the message is delivered.
By default the check looks for harassment, hate, sexual content, sexual content involving minors and self-harm. A room owner can change how strict it is in their room. A room owner cannot switch off the check for sexual content involving minors.
Usernames, room names, room descriptions, room topics, event titles, the text on items, item labels, the questions and choices in chains, and your profile's about text and signature go through the same check when you save them. If it flags what you wrote, it is not saved and you are told which part to change. If the check is unavailable, what you wrote is handled the way a chat message is.
Kynto also keeps a list of banned words. A banned word in a message is replaced with asterisks. A username, a room name or a pet name with a banned word in it is refused.
Direct messages and group chats do not go through the automatic check. The banned word list still applies there, and you can still report and block the person.
What is not allowed
- Harassment, threats or bullying.
- Hate toward a person or a group.
- Sexual content.
- Anything that sexualizes or endangers a minor.
- Anything illegal.
- Pretending to be someone else.
- Getting around a mute, a ban or the automatic checks.
The full list is in the Terms of Service. Breaking these rules can get you muted, kicked, banned from a room or banned from Kynto.
Your privacy controls
Chat settings and Settings let you choose:
- Who Can Message You: everyone, your friends or nobody.
- Paired Emotes: who can ask you for an emote. Your avatar only does one after you accept.
- Show Online Status: whether your profile shows that you are online and where.
- Linger After You Leave: whether a faded copy of your avatar stays where you stood for up to a week.
Camera, voice and screen
Your camera, your microphone and your screen stay off until you turn them on. A room's owner decides whether visitors can share voice, camera or screen there.
Your account
In Account & Security you can see every device that is signed in, sign any of them out and change your password.
Delete your account
You can delete your account in the app under Account & Security, Delete account. You can also do it on the web at kynto.io/user/delete-account. The Privacy Policy says what is removed and what stays.
